Coronation Street fans ‘rumble’ what happened to Becky Swain and it’s bad news for Carla and Lisa

Corrie fans think Lisa and Carla’s new found happiness will be short lived in a jaw-dropping twist.

Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating a surprise return of Becky Swain, which could potentially jeopardise Lisa and Carla’s blossoming relationship.

Viewers of the popular ITV soap have been engrossed in DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) developing romance with Carla Connor (Alison King), with whispers of an impending proposal also circulating.

The duo, fondly referred to as ‘Swarla’, have weathered numerous storms, including the unexpected reappearance of Carla’s murderous brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), Lisa’s familial stress involving her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin), and Carla’s health issues.

However, one recurring theme is Lisa’s history with her late wife Becky, who tragically passed away four years ago.

In a heartbreaking turn of events in 2021, Becky, a fellow officer, was fatally hit by a vehicle while on duty, reports Leicestershire Live.

During Friday’s episode (August 1), Lisa attended a therapy session and attempted to access Becky’s police records, only to be caught by her superior, Costello. This led her to decide to leave the past behind.

In a poignant moment, Lisa removed Becky’s wedding ring, assuring Carla that she was prepared to move forward and fully commit to their relationship.

Come Monday (August 3), the smitten pair are set to move into No. 6, with a proposal anticipated in the near future.

Despite this, some Corrie devotees are convinced that Becky Swain is still alive and predict a dramatic return to Weatherfield, potentially causing a rift between Carla and Lisa.

One fan took to Facebook, sharing: “My theory is Becky will be back, and turn Swain’s head. They will end up getting back together ‘for Betsy’ and then Swain will realise what she’s lost, but Carla will be with someone else (male or female)…predictable Corrie.”

On Twitter, another viewer declared: “BECKY IS DEFINITELY ALIVE! IM CALLING IT NOW #Corrie #Swarla.”

A third joined the speculation, tweeting: “I’ll start stanning #swarla if they have Becky alive and revealed as such when she’s been shot and bursts out an oversized cake at their wedding blaming someone as the culprit and all the guests have water pistols #corrie.

“If Becky is alive, we’re in for another love triangle #corrie,” suggested a fourth.

Another viewer questioned: “Is Becky actually dead or what? I don’t particularly care any further than that at the mo #corrie.”
