The teenager was airlifted to hospital but has sadly since passed away
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a teenager died following an incident on Monday night.
The boy was a third-year pupil at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town. Gardaí have confirmed they were called to an incident at a rural location at Inver, where a male youth sustained serious injuries.
The boy was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital, however, he passed away on Monday.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “The scene is currently being held for technical examination. Inquiries are ongoing and no further comment is available at this time.”
Meanwhile, the boy’s school said it will open on Tuesday and Wednesday following the tragic death.
The Abbey Vocational School posted on their social media channels that the school will open for pupils to come together.
A spokesperson said: “Our entire school community is saddened to learn of the passing of one of our highly-valued 3rd year students.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time. Our school will be open today from 3-6pm and tomorrow from 10am-2pm for any students and staff who wish to visit. May he rest in peace.”
