The high street retailer, well-known for its affordable wardrobe essentials, appears to have unveiled what could become a new customer favourite.
For shoppers seeking an asymmetrical style, New Look’s Off Shoulder Scuba Top, costing £18.99, might just fit the bill perfectly.
The piece comes in four different colours – black, off-white, light green, and light yellow – and mirrors a popular trend set to dominate this summer, with retailers from Next to River Island all stocking off-the-shoulder pieces.
New Look’s offering bears a striking similarity to Reformation’s Cello asymmetric ruched jersey top, which retails for £80 at Selfridges, reports Bristol Live.
Both options showcase an off-the-shoulder silhouette and ruched detailing, though the hemlines vary, with New Look opting for an asymmetrical cut.
The materials used also distinguish the two pieces; Reformation opts for 88% lyocell and 12% Spandex, whilst New Look employs 96% Polyester and 4% Elastane, reports the Daily Record.
New Look describes their top as: “This off shoulder scuba top makes a great choice for dressing up or down. In black, it features an asymmetric design and a gathered side.”
Meanwhile, Selfridges characterises the Reformation piece as “fitted, asymmetric neckline, ruching at front” with “midweight, slight stretch.”
Despite the variations, customers might find New Look’s alternative appealing if they’re after a more budget-conscious choice. Alternatively, shoppers might gravitate towards Next’s Drape Asymmetric One Shoulder Top, reduced to £11.50 from £28, or River Island’s £39 Drape Scuba Top.
