Police have issued an appeal for information after the incident
A man was hit over the head with a hammer during a burglary at a house in Co Down over the weekend.
Police received a report at 10.35pm on Sunday, October 5, of an aggravated burglary at a house in the Abbot’s Close area of Bangor. Four masked men forced entry to the property.
It was reported that once inside, one of the masked men hit a man from inside the property on his head and shoulder with a hammer. The man was then pursued into the back garden, before the group ran through the house, making off down an alleyway.

The man who was attacked attended hospital for treatment to his injuries following the incident. Police have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Detective Sergeant Westbury said: “We received a report at around 10.35pm on Sunday night of four masked men, some armed with hammers, forcing entry to a house in the Abbot’s Close area.
“Once inside, one of the men then hit a male from inside the property on his head and on his shoulder with a hammer, before pursuing him into the back garden. Unable to locate the male, the four men then ran back through the house and made off down an alleyway in the direction of the Newtownards Road.
“The man from the house subsequently attended hospital for treatment to his injuries.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone who might have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage that could assist with our enquiries, to contact detectives in Bangor on 101, quoting reference 1587 of 05/10/25.
