Three people rescued after becoming trapped in ‘well developed’ flat fire

Fire crews were met with a well-developed fire in a ground-floor flat with persons trapped by smoke on the floor above.

Three people have been rescued by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus following an accidental fire at a flat in Co Armagh.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Cludee Terrace in Armagh on Friday night following reports of a fire in a ground-floor flat with multiple people trapped on the floor above.

Four fire appliances and two officers were dispacted to the scene where they were met by a “well developed” blaze.

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: ” Following an initial call at 2311hrs on Friday 17 ^th October 2025, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended reports of a flat fire with persons trapped at Culdee Terrace, Armagh.

“Appliances from Armagh, Keady, Newtownhamilton and Lurgan attended alongside two officers.

“Crews were met with a well-developed fire in a ground-floor flat with persons trapped by smoke on the floor above. Breathing apparatus crews rescued 3 people utilising smoke hoods, and a further person was treated for smoke inhalation before being conveyed to hospital as a precaution.
