It was a star studded night to mark 10 years of the Late Late Show Country Music Special
Friday saw the eagerly awaited Late Late Show Country Music Special air on RTE One, with some major famous faces joining host Patrick Kielty in studio.
Priscilla Presley, John C. Reilly and our own Daniel O’Donnell were in studio as the Friday night chat show marked 10 years of the Country Music Special.
Kicking off the star-studded panel of guests were Daniel O’Donnell, Philomena Begley, Susan McCann and Declan Nerney. They spoke about their impressive careers, with Daniel addressing the fact he would be stepping away from touring for a little while.

When Patrick asked what he would be doing, Daniel said that as well as playing shows he has lined up, he hopes to play more bridge.
“I’ll play a bit of golf and I’ll play a bit of bridge, I love the bridge,” the country legend said.
The Co Down man had the guests in stitches when he replied: “Are you good at the bridge? I always heard bridge was like sex, you either need a good partner or a good hand.”
The guests were left shocked and in stitches by the hosts x-rated quip. After a hearty laugh, Patrick added: “Okay, Daniel’s going to keep us guessing.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, Susan McCann also reflected on how country music icon Big Tom helped her get where she is today. The singer is celebrating 50 years in the business this year and was inducted into the Irish Country Music Hall of Fame on the Late Late Show Country Music Special last year.
“I often say only for Big Tom, I might never have been heard of,” she said. “He was a huge hit for me.”
The guests were then joined by actor John C. Reilly, who opened up about his love for Irish music.
“It’s amazing to be with this row of legends,” he gushed as he entered the studio.
Later on, it was Sandy Kelly who became this year’s inductee to the Irish Country Music Hall of Fame on tonight’s show. She held back tears as she was presented with the honour, and joined the rest of the guests to chat about her incredible career and achievements.
Speaking to Patrick , Sandy said: “Oh my goodness, I feel like I’ve won the Eurovision. I couldn’t understand why they were bringing in all the lights [backstage]. I’m shaking. It’s very emotional, because it’s such an honour to be recognised by everybody. I didn’t expect it.”
She added: “I want to dedicate it to my family and all of my peers.”
