Gardai launch investigation after discovery of man’s body in Co Meath

The body was discovered on Friday morning

An investigation is underway after the body of a man was discovered in Co Meath.

The discovery was made on Friday morning, October 3, shortly before 10am, in the townland of Agher, around 6km from Summerhill.

The man’s body has been removed to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place, the Irish Mirror reports.

Gardaí said the outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation and that the local coroner has also been notified.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body in Agher, Co. Meath on Friday, 3rd October 2025 shortly before 10am.

“The body has since been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

“The outcome of the post-mortem examination will determine the course of the investigation. The local Coroner has been notified.”

Gardaí remained at the scene on Saturday as a technical examination is ongoing.
