Coronation Street’s Gary Windass could be sent to prison in upcoming scenes

Coronation Street fans believe that Gary Windass could leave the cobbles after 17 years in a dark prison twist.

The popular ITV programme has been hinting at some intense upcoming episodes for Gary (Mikey North) as he gears up to confront new villain Noah Hedley (played by Richard Winsor).

Soap viewers will recall that Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) recently crossed paths again with Noah, who had previously subjected him to conversion therapy.

After a fiery dispute, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) lashed out at Noah at the community centre last month, only to discover later that Noah was romantically involved with Theo’s former spouse, Danielle (Natalie Anderson).

The tension is set to escalate as new spoiler images reveal Gary arriving at the community centre armed with a hammer, ready to stand up for his friend, Theo, reports Leicestershire Live.

During Monday’s (August 11) visit to the cobbles, which is now available to stream on ITVX, Theo realised that a photo of his family had been used on a flyer for Noah’s church.

Frustrated by Noah’s actions, Theo stood Todd up for a lunch date, and in a fit of rage, he trashed the builder’s yard.

Later, Gary found his friend in a bad state, and was immediately sympathetic after learning about his struggles.

Gary then offered to deal with Noah on Theo’s behalf, noting that Theo could lose access to his children for good if he got in trouble with the police.

“Look, I watched Liam get bullied to the point of suicide – and I said ‘never again’,” Gary declared.

“Then I let Mick and Lou both get the better of me. So I’m pretty sick of seeing the likes of them treat people like dirt and get away with it, you know what I mean?

“Now, we need to teach him a lesson, and if you can’t do it, I’ll do it for you… You don’t ever worry about me, okay? I know what I’m doing. Let’s get him out of your life for good.”

Coronation Street enthusiasts are now speculating that Gary could be headed for a stint behind bars, but not due to his recent dealings with Noah.

A number of viewers reckon he might finally face consequences for the death of Rana Habeeb (played by Bhavna Limbachia), who tragically died in the 2019 factory roof collapse—an incident orchestrated by Gary.

One fan speculated on Reddit: “I’m calling it now, if there’s a time where it’s ever announced that Gary is leaving, I can see it finally being him getting exposed and arrested for Rana’s death, something that he has surprisingly gotten away with, and it’s been forgotten about.”

Another chimed in: “He also murdered Rick Neelan, which he got close to being caught for. He could be investigated after doing something to Noah.”

A third said: “I sort of agree – as long as there are any characters left in the cast at that point who had any real connection to Rana.”

Coronation Street airs at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
