Meanjin/Brisbane’s Torizon continue to define their brand of melodic heaviness with new single Currents. Produced and mixed by Kalen Austin and mastered by Mike Kalajian (Bad Omens, Windwaker, Papa Roach), the track is the latest step towards their debut conceptual EP Meliora, due 19 September.
Currents marks the third chapter in the story of characters Luna and Sam as they confront the aftermath of miscarriage. The song shifts between quiet, finger-picked guitar and layered strings before opening into heavier passages where frontwoman Mish Sharma and bassist Ben Gallaher trade vocals.

The release is accompanied by a video from Emerge Creative, shot around Colmslie Reserve and Mish’s home in Meanjin/Brisbane. The clip includes personal details, such as Luna holding an ultrasound and photographs of the actors as children. Filming even paused when dogs unexpectedly wandered into the beach scenes.
Earlier singles Bloom and Sober gained national airplay across triple j Unearthed and community radio, with Bloom also landing on Apple Music’s Breaking Hard Rock playlist. Torizon have previously supported Circles, The Last Martyr, Valhalore and These Four Walls, and will embark on their first headline East Coast tour this October with Naarm/Melbourne’s New Million. Dates include Eora/Sydney, Naarm/Melbourne and Meanjin/Brisbane, with local heavy acts joining in each city.
