Acclaimed musician and composer Tom Norris, renowned as a principal violinist of the London Symphony Orchestra, has released ‘Armonika’, the debut single from his new solo project GAIGA. Out now on all major digital platforms, the track offers the first glimpse into Norris’s forthcoming self-titled album, GAIGA, due for release in 2026.
With GAIGA, Norris opens a bold new chapter in his career, fusing the intricacies of classical and acoustic instrumentation with the expansive sound design of contemporary electronic music.
Over his distinguished career, Norris has recorded and performed with some of the world’s most celebrated artists and composers, including John Williams, Alexandre Desplat, Paul McCartney, The Who, Elvis Costello, Tony Bennett, Nanci Griffith, Seal, Floating Points, Jeff Mills, Dave Brubeck, Soweto Kinch, and Nitin Sawhney. His work spans film scores, orchestral recordings, and genre-defying collaborations across classical, jazz, and experimental soundscapes.
‘Armonika’, produced by Norris himself, marks the first step in this evolution, blending organic beats, strings, and layered synths into a vivid and immersive sonic landscape. The track opens with a wash of reverb and delay-soaked ambience as swirling synths and trilling strings create a sense of spaciousness. Gradually, a pulsing arpeggiator and syncopated high-hat rhythm emerge, leading to a propulsive bass line and four-on-the-floor groove. As textures build and intertwine, the composition culminates in an uplifting, danceable haze, a moment of euphoria that captures GAIGA’s balance of precision and emotional depth.
Speaking about the project, Tom Norris (GAIGA) explains: “The album draws from the myriad influences of my musical background, where classical instrumentation is complemented with synthesised soundscapes and evolving textures.”
