Guerlain’s Shalimar Gets Exhibit in Waldorf Astoria New York

Guerlain’s Shalimar is celebrating a big birthday — and getting an exhibition to boot.

Called “Shalimar Centennial: 100 Years of Love,” the exhibition will run from Nov. 5 to 20 at the reopened Waldorf Astoria New York.

The exhibit will feature a discovery room, which includes video and visuals around the genesis of the juice, and will showcase celebrity fans and the history of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned Guerlain. Another room, called the olfactory room, focuses on the brand’s key notes across juices, which include vanilla, bergamot, tonka bean, iris, rose and jasmine.

In addition to a point of sale that will include the entire Shalimar range (including recent addition Shalimar L’Essence), various bottle designs from the past century will also get a showcase. Branded totes, postcards, a complimentary Champagne voucher at the Clock Tower Bar and testers of Shalimar L’Essence will be gifted to visitors.

Earlier this year, Guerlain unveiled plans to open its newest and largest spa in the Waldorf Astoria New York, with a focus on wellness and longevity.

Shalimar debuted in 1925 as the creation of Jacques Guerlain, and has gotten a slew of other iterations throughout the years. For the 100th anniversary, Guerlain tapped artist Janaïna Milheiro for a limited-edition incarnation of the bottle.

Per LVMH’s most recent financial results, its perfumes and cosmetics sales were up 2 percent, in line with forecasts. Fragrance is still the hottest category in prestige beauty in the U.S., with Circana reporting that sales grew 6 percent in the first half, amounting to $3.9 billion, driven by ultra-luxury offerings and higher juice concentrations.
