Saie’s president is stepping away from the brand’s day-to-day operations.
Lucia Perdomo-Ruehlemann, who started in the role in 2022, quietly stepped down from the job earlier this year.
“After much thought and reflection, I’ve made the decision to step down as president of Saie, effective September 1st 2025,” Perdomo-Ruehlemann wrote in an email to staffers. “It has been an honor to help build this brand alongside such an extraordinary team, partners and community. As Saie continues into its next chapter of growth, I’ll remain an advisor and a proud supporter of all that’s ahead.”
Both the brand and Perdomo-Ruehlemann separately confirmed the news to WWD.
Perdomo-Ruehlemann had previously served as Drunk Elephant’s global brand president, and prior to that, spent time across a handful of brands at parent companies such as LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and the Estée Lauder Cos.
Despite broader headwinds in the makeup category, Saie remains one of beauty’s buzziest brands, with an emphasis on “clean” and high-performance product formulas, a community-forward ethos and an emphasis on sustainability and social causes.
“My recruitment is to solidify the work that we have done. I’m really excited to broaden the awareness of the brand the Saie way — we do everything super thoughtfully,” said founder and chief executive officer Laney Crowell at the time of Perdomo-Ruehlemann’s hire. “We talk a lot about the Saie way, and [Perdomo-Ruehlemann] completely embodies it. She’s strategic, intuitive and thoughtful, and she has a really strong pioneering spirit which is really important.”
