“I don’t give a f***” – Michael Conlan fires back at critics after impressive KO win

Michael Conlan ‘doesn’t give a f***’ about what his critics say as he knows he’ll never win them over.

And Belfast man doesn’t even use the negativity for motivation as at this stage of his career, as the only person he has anything to prove to is himself.

Conlan’s career was shocked back into life on Friday night with a stunning fourth round KO win over Jack Bateson at the 3Arena.

The 33-year-old’s win was a timely reminder and one that could instantly bring him back into the World title picture.

“I just felt like I’m back,” said Conlan shortly after his big win.

“You probably heard me scream it after, because, listen, I’m probably one of the most criticised fighters from the island at times, but I proved to myself that I’m still there.”

When pushed on his criticism comment, Conlan continued “I don’t give a f*** what anybody says anymore.

“I actually don’t care and that’s something that I’ve learned over the last while. Tonight, I didn’t prove anybody anything, I only proved it to myself.

“I don’t care about opinions because if I do that I’ll forever be down in the dumps because I get an awful lot of hate.

“If BBC NI put an article up about me, they tell be 900 comments and probably 890 of them are negative comments. So what’s the point of caring? It’s irrelevant.

“Whatever it is, love me or hate me, I’m still going to do what I do.”
