He was devastated to be eliminated on the second episode of the series
The second contestant to be murdered on The Traitors Ireland admitted that he bawled crying into his mother’s arms after getting the boot.
Niall McKeown, 25, from Co Tyrone, was devastated to be eliminated on the second episode of the RTE series. The Gaeilgeoir was harshly murdered by the Traitors after he helped bring the team to victory in an Irish language challenge.
Speaking to Oliver Callan on RTÉ Radio 1, Niall said: “We are in mourning here at the minute. I had to get the train home, made it the whole way to the train, got into the car and I wouldn’t even call it crying, I was choking on my tears. My mother was rubbing my back and she said ‘Do you think they just couldn’t stand the accent and got rid of you?'”

The school teacher was the only Northern Irish contestant on the show, and he worried people might not be able to understand his accent. However, strangely enough it was his confidence with the Irish language that seemed to get him the boot., the Irish Mirror reports.
Asked why he thinks he was murdered by Traitors Eamon, Paudie and Katelyn, Niall said: “The general understanding, and I am quoting someone from the Uncloaked show, is because I’m a good looking Gaeilgeor, the kind girls come home from the Gaeltacht raving about.
“Listen, am I paying the price for Eamon not getting the most improved Gaeilgeoir back in the day in the Gaeltacht? I don’t know.” The show is set to be a massive win for RTE, as the reality series has been extremely popular in other countries. Nearly half a million (469,000) people tuned into the pilot of the Irish version.
Contestants from all across the country feature in the contest, as the Irish wit and charm is put to the test. But the show, hosted by former Derry Girls star and actress Siobhan McSweeney, was juicy from the get go, as two players were harshly dumped before even stepping foot in Slane Castle, Co Meath.
The secret Traitors have to deceive, manipulate and eliminate their rivals in the battle for up to €50,000. They have to secretly murder their fellow players, eliminating them from the competition.
The rest are Faithfuls- and they must work together to expose the saboteurs before it is too late. Nina Shelton was booted from Tuesday night’s episode after the other Faithfuls decided she was a Traitor, but they were wrong.
Emotions were high in the round table room as the Wexford woman was ganged up on. When she realised her fate had been decided, Nina began crying and confiding in her friend and fellow player Faye.
However, the room audibly gasped when Nina revealed that they were “barking up the wrong tree” as she “had been and always was a Faithful”.
Speaking about why she became emotional on the after-show The Traitors: Uncloaked, Nina said: “It’s a high pressure situation, there’s a lot going on, you are very paranoid. I think it’s harder to be a Faithful than a Traitor in the beginning because you are constantly trying to assure people that you are a truthful person and you’re not telling lies.
“Whereas if you are a Traitor you know where you stand and all these eejits all fight amongst themselves and you can hang out.” The Wexford woman said she didn’t have a game plan entering the show. However, she knows how to tell a fib or two as she kept her participation a secret from friends and family.
Nina continued: “I said I had to go away for work, and I didn’t actually say how long I was gone for. My mam wasn’t well and I was going to see her all the time so I told her I was going away for work down the country and she said ‘Are you sure you’re not up to something like going on Ireland’s fittest family?’
“And then one of the first missions was rolling the barrel and I thought I was going to die, I thought my lung was going to come out of my mouth for three days after that.”
The Traitors Ireland continues every Sunday at 9.30pm, Monday and Tuesday at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player. Catch up on all the betrayal, banter and behind-the-scenes bombshells with The Traitors Ireland: Uncloaked directly after The Traitors Ireland.
