One of the largest suppliers of natural gas in Northern Ireland has announced a further price reduction for some domestic customers this year.
Firmus Energy confirmed on Wednesday that its gas prices would be falling by more than 7% from October 1 in the Ten Towns network area.
The Ten Towns network includes Antrim, Armagh, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Banbridge, Coleraine, Craigavon (including Lurgan and Portadown), Limavady, Derry, Newry and more than 25 other towns and villages in the surrounding areas.

firmus energy Supply supplies natural gas to over 113,000 customers across Northern Ireland. The energy company says this decrease will save households an average of £78 per year. firmus previously lowered its gas tariff by 11.84% in April for customers across its Ten Towns Network area.
Announcing this further reduction, Ryan Miskimmin, Sales Director at firmus energy Supply said: “We are pleased to share our second tariff reduction of the year and are always committed to passing on any savings to customers, whenever it is possible for us to do so. Having engaged with the Utility Regulator, and Consumer Council, we are able to announce this reduction of 7.86 %.
“Since April this year, our consecutive reductions have decreased our tariffs by almost 19%, representing an average household saving of £210 per year. As we head into the colder months, we know that these savings coupled with the constant heat and instant hot water that natural gas provides, will be welcomed by Ten Towns customers.”
An announcement regarding the Greater Belfast Network area will be made in the coming weeks.
