10 restaurants named best in NI at ‘Oscars of the curry industry’

Ten restaurants across Northern Ireland have been shortlisted for ‘Regional Restaurant of the Year’ at this year’s Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards.

The ARTAs, often known as the “Oscars of the curry industry”, recognise the very best of Asian cuisine across a range of national and regional categories.

The 2025 awards saw over 1,295 restaurants and takeaways from across the UK nominated as the awards continue to reward excellence, craft, creativity and great taste by bringing together the UK’s most celebrated Asian restaurants, chefs and culinary professionals under one roof.

The restaurants that have been shortlisted for the ‘Northern Ireland Restaurant of the Year’ at the prestigious food awards are:

  • Nu Delhi Restaurant Lounge, Belfast
  • Bites Of India, Botanic, Belfast
  • Himalayan, Botanic, Belfast
  • Indian Ocean Restaurant, Holywood
  • Kohinoor Indian Cuisine, Lisburn
  • Little India Restaurant, Carrickfergus
  • Mayur Indian Restaurant, Larne
  • Monsoon, Dundonald
  • Shimla Indian Cuisine, Cregagh
  • Yaks, Bangor

The winners will be announced at the ARTA Grand Finale & Gala Evening on the 6th of October 2025 at the esteemed London Hilton, Park Lane.

Speaking about this year’s nomination, owner of Nu Delhi Restaurant Lounge, the 2024 winner, Naz Din said: “Myself and the team are honoured to have been nominated for the fourth year for such a prestigious award in the Indian Cuisine Industry.

“Just to be recognised is an achievement”.
