Gogglebox star Mary Killen has opened up about her addiction in a new interview
Gogglebox star Mary Killen has admitted she “becomes argumentative” when her vaping pods run out, disclosing an addiction she picked up in her sixties.
The 67-year-old, who appears on the Channel 4 show alongside husband Giles Wood, explained she got hooked on vapes after trying a mate’s son’s device “a couple of years ago.
“I loved inhaling the odourless air and blowing it out again,” Mary confessed. “It just looked so chic and felt cooling in the palm of the hand.”
In her latest You Magazine column, Mary admitted: “Nicotine is highly addictive, and I now waste about £14 a week on four Juul replacement pods, each one delivering roughly the same amount of nicotine as 20 cigarettes.
“And the addiction is a problem, because if I run out of replacement pods, I become self-pitying and argumentative,” reports the Mirror.

The beloved TV personality went on to share her efforts to give up vaping due to limited long-term health studies.
However, she joked that she’d “probably kill or be killed” by family members if she ditched vaping completely and went “cold turkey”.
Mary, who grew up in Larne, Northern Ireland, now lives in Wiltshire with her husband and co-star Giles, having appeared on the show since series five in 2015. The duo have become well-known figures on Gogglebox, renowned for their sharp comments and candid opinions.
In an interview earlier this year, Mary gave fans a peek into her life with Gyles at their residence, fondly referred to as The Grottage.
She revealed that she and her husband adopt a laid-back attitude towards cleanliness and are comfortable with their dogs sharing the bed with them.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said, “I know many hosts won’t even let visiting dogs on the sofa-but we don’t mind them in the beds.
“In my experience, most of the concerns hosts have about house guests revolve around cleaning. We have a cleaner once a week, and the cottage is far from sparkling.
“I too used to worry about it,” she confessed before adding: “But it has become clear over the years that, as long as guests feel confident they will not get food poisoning from our ancient kitchen, they are more than happy with the rest of the shabbiness and discomfort.”
Gogglebox is available to watch on All4.
