Did you look at yesterday’s leaked Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra images and wished a similar but smaller tablet would come out alongside Samsung’s next state-of-the-art Android giant? Your wish is about to come true, as a non-Ultra Galaxy Tab S11 is clearly also in the pipeline and moving one step closer to an official launch with its very own batch of high-res product depictions today.
Two colors, slim screen bezels, razor-thin profile, and no notch
From at least one key cosmetic standpoint, the Tab S11 is arguably superior to its Ultra-branded sibling. I’m talking of course about the screen cutout (aka notch), which is (annoyingly) still present on Samsung’s most advanced tablet (albeit in a new, subtler form), but absent from the non-Ultra Galaxy Tab S11 (as was the case for the “vanilla” Tab S9 and the Tab S10 Plus).
Surprisingly or not, the resulting screen bezels are far from massive, with the Tab S11 actually being able to shrink the Tab S9’s overall height and width… a little, from 254.3 and 165.8mm respectively to 253.8 and 165.3mm. Those aren’t exactly changes you’re likely to notice at first glance or even in extended real-life use (unless you’re the kind of user who likes to keep a measuring ruler nearby at all times, that is), but if it pans out, the Galaxy Tab S11’s reduced thickness could instantly grab your attention.
While the Tab S9 is itself an impressively thin device, at 5.9mm, the Tab S11 is today tipped to take that number down to 5.5mm and thus essentially match the wasp waist of the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Confusingly enough, the Tab S11 Ultra is also said to measure 5.5mm in depth after being rumored (more than once) to go down to as little as 5 or 5.1mm.
So, yes, there’s still a bit of uncertainty surrounding Samsung’s next big tablets in that particular department, which is not what I can say about the “vanilla” Tab S11’s color options. Those are all but etched in stone as silver and (dark) gray, which is obviously not very surprising, but it does disappoint me a little after seeing the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 Lite mid-ranger pictured in a flashy Coral Red hue.
What else do we know about the Galaxy Tab S11?
Well, pretty much everything there is to know. For instance, these key specifications might as well be official already:
11-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate capabilities;
MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor;
12GB RAM;
128, 256, and 512GB storage options;
Android 16 with One UI 8;
Seven years of guaranteed OS updates and security patches;
13MP rear-facing camera;
12MP front-facing camera;
Quad speaker system;
8,400mAh battery;
45W charging support;
Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, optional 5G;
USB-C port with USB Gen 3.2 technology;
Built-in S Pen.
And then we have these European price tags rumored a while ago that are unlikely to have been revised in the meantime:
€899 – Wi-Fi-only 128GB storage variant;
€959 – 256GB configuration sans 5G;
€1,049 – 128GB storage and cellular connectivity;
€1,079 – 512GB storage, no 5G;
€1,109 – 256GB storage + 5G support.
Yes, €899 technically equates to almost $1,050 right now, but I’m fairly confident that the Tab S11 will instead start at around $800 stateside, thus undercutting the cheapest Tab S11 Ultra configuration by no less than 400 bucks.
The Galaxy Tab S11 is essentially an open book already, but its release date remains under wraps.
$800 is also $200 less than what the most affordable iPad Pro 11 (M4) model (with 256GB storage) normally costs, which would give Samsung a chance to compete in the crowded and very challenging high-end tablet space this holiday shopping season. By the way, I can’t tell you for sure when the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra will be released, but a persistent rumor over the last few weeks has been calling for an official announcement at the IFA trade show in Germany in early September.
