Emmerdale fans were left stunned as Mack made a huge discovery on the ITV soap before a deadly twist on Thursday night
Mackenzie Boyd stumbled upon a revelation that could alter everything on Emmerdale on Wednesday with a deadly twist happening on Thursday.
A plot twist involving murderer John Sugden and newcomer Ben left him staggered earlier this week with John exacting revenge on Thursday night.
It comes amid rumours that Mack, portrayed by actor Lawrence Robb, would be exiting the soap, becoming John’s next casualty.
Earlier this week, on Wednesday night, Mackenzie had been shown the door by his wife Charity Dingle following their disagreement amidst the surrogacy storyline. With Charity preoccupied with her secret DNA scandal, Mack ended up expressing his genuine feelings about their current situation.
Charity was recently informed she was pregnant after an embryo transfer, agreeing to be a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden. However, after sleeping with her ex Ross Barton, she now doesn’t know if the baby is Sarah’s or hers, reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, oblivious of the affair or the fact she kissed her other ex Vanessa Woodfield on the same night she slept with Ross, Mack vented his frustration over recent events. It concluded with Mack departing, after Charity kicked him out, and he found himself in the crosshairs of killer John.
As Mack climbed into the secret killer’s van waiting for John to join him, he stumbled upon a scrapbook filled with photos from John’s army days. Mack was innocently browsing through the pictures, only to discover one of John alongside a very familiar face.
John was photographed with his “brother in arms” Ben, the same Ben who had been the removal man collecting Nate Robinson’s belongings from his wife Tracy’s home months earlier. Fans are aware that at this point, Nate was already dead, having been secretly murdered by John.
So, viewers knew that John had orchestrated the collection, but it wasn’t revealed until Wednesday that Ben and John were old army mates. Ben was aiding John in covering his tracks by gathering the items, and this week he claimed the person he met with was Owen – the man John had framed for Nate’s death.
Mack happened to be in the shop with Ben when he informed the police that Owen was the customer. Thus, seeing the photo of Ben with John gave him all the information he needed.
On Thursday night, John clocked that Mack worked everything out. A tense showdown then took place in the woods, in which John chased Mack armed with a crossbow.
John managed to shoot down Mack and the arrow went straight through his chest. Still alive but wounded, Mack was cornered by John who found a giant rock and threw it down, seemingly killing Mack.
It remains to be seen if Mack is actually dead but actor Lawrence recently said when questioned on whether he was leaving Emmerdale: “Yeah there are lots of rumours”, Lawrence responded in a six-word reply, “and the rumours they shall remain”.
He added: “Ultimately, if and when the time comes for me to leave, whether my choice or the choice of writers and producers, then I will be thankful for the time.”
Meanwhile, new spoilers have also hinted that Mack is AWOL from next week, so while not confirmed, a gruesome end could be on the cards for Mack this week…
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
