A long-running Emmerdale character has decided to call it quits on their Walford job
A beloved character on EastEnders has resigned from their position and has already secured fresh employment.
Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) has remained a cornerstone of the soap since making her first appearance back in 2005. As Billy’s (Perry Fenwick) spouse, she’s been involved in numerous major plotlines.
From her romance with Billy through to battling bulimia, Honey’s journey in Walford has been packed with drama. This is particularly true at present, as the soap has recently revealed a significant development for Honey.

As viewers will remember, several years ago, Honey departed her role at the Minute Mart and took on the position of Walford’s market inspector, monitoring all the local traders.
Recently, she had ambitions of securing Mr Lister’s senior market inspector role, following his announcement that he planned to step down in the coming months after years of supervising the traders, reports Plymouth Live.
Mr Lister had previously suggested that Honey might take over from him, and during Thursday’s instalment (August 14) Honey decided to act and arranged to meet Mr Lister at the cafe.
However, matters went awry when he disclosed that retirement wasn’t an option for him. Incensed, Honey subsequently expressed her frustration to Billy, alleging she’d been overlooked for the replacement role due to her gender.
Mr Lister then appeared and informed Honey he had already committed the position to a male colleague from a competing market.
Honey was furious and resigned immediately, declaring to Mr Lister: “I will not be humiliated, I will not be taken advantage of I quit!”
Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) then proposed that Honey take her job back at the Minute Mart, which she accepted, agreeing to start in a week’s time as she desires a “little bit of me time”.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
