Rising rock-pop solo artist MAREYA shares the striking new single ‘I’m So Sorry’.
Bright, fun and polished yet carrying a raw emotional undertone thanks for its strikingly honest lyricism, the track is a vibrant example of MAREYA’s potential. The second instalment from her forthcoming EP Glitter Tears, plunges into the unfiltered realities of living with ADHD, anxiety, and depression.
Driven by gritty pop-rock energy comparable to early Paramore and Avril Lavigne, ‘I’m So Sorry’ is an anthem about how mental illness can fracture not only your sense of self, but also the bonds you hold most dear. Delivered over a driving guitar led backdrop, and led by vocals which carry a playfully light charismatic delivery, the track balances its hard hitting message with a up tempo, catchy exterior.
MAREYA explains: “I’m So Sorry” is a raw, pop-rock anthem that is a wake-up call from the depths of depression and anxiety – a confession of how mental illness can drag down not only yourself, but the people you love. It’s messy, honest, and full of emotional fire, but it also ultimately carries a spark of hope and determination to change. It’s a song about finally understanding the impact of your pain, and choosing to fight your way back before it’s too late.”
A proud Māori powerhouse, MAREYA is a neurodivergent artist and songwriter known for her soaring vocals, searing lyricism, and magnetic emotional presence. Blending catchy melodies with a sense of vulnerability and the punch of early 2000s rock, MAREYA captures a sound which could belong on BBC Radio 1 as well as it could on Kerrang.
