Emmerdale viewers are convinced John Sugden could be hiding more secrets
Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve rumbled a huge DNA secret involving John Sugden.
Earlier this week, Robert Sugden found himself potentially going back to prison after he attacked his brother John.
Prior to the assault, John took delight in telling Ross Barton that Robert was behind the farm break in.
Meanwhile, Robert learnt that John had saved a series of villagers’ lives recently, including Cain, Chas and Jacob, sparking suspicion.
While in The Woolpack, Robert taunted John, calling him a “hero” in front of their sister Victoria Sugden and his ex Aaron Dingle, who is now married to John.
Victoria was desperate for her two brothers to resolve their differences but things took a dramatic turn when Ross showed up, confronting him for the farm break in.
This resulted in everyone telling Robert to leave the village as John gaslit his brother, telling him he needed professional help.
Later, while taking a walk, Robert bumped into John who attacked his brother after he threatened to expose him. Following the scuffle, a furious Robert grabbed a wrench and hit John over the head.
On Friday’s episode, John regained consciousness in hospital as he revealed his plans to report Robert to the police. However, Victoria was quick to track down Robert and pleaded with him to change John’s mind.
After admitting he was jealous and agreeing to leave both him and Aaron alone, John agreed to not report him to the police and he was later discharged from the hospital.
Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers are hoping that due to John’s hospital stay, there might be a DNA twist that proves he isn’t related to John and Victoria.
One person said: “Hope he needs a blood transfusion and they find out his doesn’t match Vic’s or Robert’s. #Emmerdale” while a different account added: “There better be some DNA twist with John cause he is just so dumb & boring to be related to this family #Emmerdale #Robron.”
Soap watchers will recall that John is responsible for Nate Robinson’s death last year during the barn fire, where he dumped his body in the lake and it has since been discovered.
In recent scenes, John let patient Owen, who had a history of drug and alcohol issues, die as he wrote a fake suicide note on Owen’s laptop, claiming he murdered Nate.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. Each episode is also available to watch from 7am on ITV X.
