In recent years the festival has had massive success in showcasing the rich culture, diversity, arts and potential of these spaces
South and East Belfast Grassroots Community Festival, Féile na hAbhann, returns this weekend.
Centred around the Lagan Walkway, River Lagan, Gasworks and St Georges Market, as well as the local communities that surround the river, the Féile has been hugely successful in highlighting the rich culture, diversity, arts and potential of these spaces to be enjoyed by all.
The use of the river has increased each year, providing safe access to river activities in the heart of Belfast.
Community organiser Gerard Rice said: “The Féile kicks off on Sunday 3rd August with its massive launch day event from 12-4pm on Lagan Walkway, river and Gasworks.
“You will be immersed in interactive themed zones from river learning, environment, arts and culture, Irish language, and much more! Walk along the colorful zones and see circus acts, take part in workshops, and enjoy a stroll through our market section.
“There is something for all the family, and all activities are free of charge. The main stage will have some amazing acts, including the legendary John Spillane and a Féile crowd favorite in the Rapparees. It’s a day not to be missed!
“This event launches our overall Féile, where we have two other amazing headline acts in the Song and Story Night at St George’s on 8th August and the ever-popular Féile Trad Night on 12th August featuring headline act Pólca 4. Tickets are available from our Féile social media for all events.”
