Emmerdale legend James Hooton has been enjoying a break away from filming the ITV soap leaving fans amused
Emmerdale icon James Hooton has delighted fans with a set of “funny” photos taken while on a family holiday in Italy to mark his 52nd birthday.
Soap star James has been a part of the long running ITV show since his debut in 1995. The much-loved character forms a part of the Dingle clan as well as being married to Lydia (Karen Blick) following their wedding in 2020, three years after the pair started dating.
Currently, Sam is at loggerheads with his brother Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) following the family’s new feud with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) as he vows to take over Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) beloved Butlers Farm.

The situation escalated quickly when Moira accused Joe of organising two traspassers to break into her barn leaving her son Kyle (Huey Quinn) so terrified he stabbed one intruder with a pitch fork.
Moira immediately caught up with Joe and a showdown ensued, but when she attempted to strike Joe, Lydia intervened, inadvertently taking the hit.
Joe later the called the police and Moira was arrested for assault.
As Cain turned against his brother, Sam defiantly refused to give up his job working for Kim Tate (Claire King) as did his wife Lydia, with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) stepping in to brand Cain a “bully”.
Sam also commented on Cain’s temper and referred to his son Nate’s (Jurell Carter) death, following his murder, as a fight nearly followed.
Will Sam and Cain get over their latest feud?
Away from the ITV soap, Sam actor James Hooton looked a world away from his troubled character as he enjoyed a holiday to Italy with his family.
Sharing a series of snaps to Instagram, James can be seen humorously posing in various locations, leaving fans amused. In one snap, James cuts a casual look as he wears a T-shirt teamed with shorts and sandals while he stands next to a statue and imitates its actions.
James captioned the images, “Out and about in Lecce,” and followers flooded the comments section with their amusement.
One person wrote: “Your photos are so funny and really make me laugh x”, a second joked: “James Hooton for prime minister.”
One fan added, “Keep The Posts Coming. We all love Watching You in Emmerdale as Sam. I hope you’re in it for years to come.” Another simply added a string of laughing emojis.
