The Met Office say “unseasonably strong winds and heavy rain” are likely on Monday in Northern Ireland. The forecaster says the strongest winds would be most likely near coastal areas on August 4.

A Met Office spokesperson told Belfast Live: “It’s hard to put definitive details on Monday’s weather for Northern Ireland, but the Met Office forecast highlights that unseasonably strong winds and heavy rain are likely on Monday, with potential impacts for some.

“The strongest winds would be most likely near coastal areas, but details on exact strengths and gusts are still being determined, with warnings possible in the coming days for what could be an impactful period of summer weather for some.

“Keep up to date with the forecast in the coming days as further details become clearer.”

And for tonight’s weather forecast, July 31, the forecast says: “This evening will be dry with some late sunshine. Then the rest of the night will be dry across all parts with clear periods. Light winds. Minimum temperature 12C.

All parts will then have a dry day on Friday, August 1, with some bright or sunny intervals. Becoming rather cloudy at times, with a maximum temperature of 20C.

The Met Office’s outlook for Saturday, August 2, to Monday, August 4, is as follows: “Dry with sunny spells on Saturday. Early rain soon clearing on Sunday followed by a dry and bright day. Chance of wind and rain on Monday.”
