Northern Ireland is in full swing of its festive celebrations.
And as always, there are plenty of fun Christmas events happening across the country as we prepare for Santa’s visit, eating Christmas dinner until we burst and celebrating with your nearest and dearest.
From family days out to Christmas markets to festive date nights, there is something for everyone to check out to get into the spirit in every corner of Northern Ireland.

Unfortunately, it would be impossible to name every event taking place in 2025, we have rounded up a handful of Christmas-themed events happening across each council area:
Belfast
Belfast Christmas Market
The Christmas market has been the focal point of festive celebrations in the city centre for the last 19 years.
With traders from a host of different nationalities and countless brilliant gift, food and retail options, a trip to the Christmas market is an essential when visiting the city.
Belfast Christmas Market will be at the City Hall until 6pm on 22 December.
Santa’s Post Office
The magic of Christmas is in the air as Belfast One opens its biggest ever Santa’s Post Office, making sure every child’s letter to Santa gets to him in time for Christmas.
It is expected over 10,000 letters to Santa will make their way to the North Pole from 2 Royal Avenue this year, where a host of free festive fun is available for visitors to the city centre from this Sunday 16th November until Sunday 21st December.
Visitors will be transported to a winter wonderland as soon as they arrive at the Post Office, with Santa’s Sleigh available for photos, while a special sensory wall will immerse children in the magic of Christmas. Santa’s elves are on hand with pencils and paper for children to write their letters, and will also host arts and crafts as part of the experience.
Winter Circus
Belfast’s favourite alternative Christmas show, Winter Circus by Tumble Circus, will once again wow crowds in the Cathedral Quarter this year.
Back for a ninth year, pitching its fully heated Big Top tent in the heart of the city centre for 31 performances from December 12 until January 4.
The 2025 edition is an all-new, fast, funny, Belfast-brewed hour of aerial artistry, precision juggling and acrobatic mischief, performed in the round.
Winter’s Den
Winter’s Den returns to 2 Royal Avenue creating an enchanting winter wonderland.
The venue has once again been transformed into a beautiful winter wonderland, with crafting workshops, silent discos, carol singing and choir performances, alongside the return of the Belfast Potters’ Market, sustainable gift wrapping workshops and even a New Year’s Eve céilí. Furry friends can get in on the festive fun too, with the popular Crufty Christmas Fashion Show on Saturday 7 December, showcasing seasonal canine fashions on the catwalk, while the venue is also home to Santa’s Post Office, receiving letters to the North Pole until Sunday 21 December.
Cathedral Quarter Christmas Sunday Market
This festive season, the Cathedral Quarter Sunday Art Market transforms into the CQ Christmas Sunday Art Market, bringing art, atmosphere, and Christmas magic to Hill Street every Sunday from 16 November to 21 December.
From 10am to 3pm, Hill Street will be lined with stalls from local artists, designers, and independent makers, each offering unique, handcrafted gifts and festive finds.
Expect twinkling lights, creative flair, and that unmistakable Cathedral Quarter charm, all in one of Belfast’s most atmospheric settings.
Walkabout Christmas Characters
November 19, December 6 and 13. Experience the wonder of the season with Walkabout Festive characters in Donegall Place.
Magical elves, fairies and magicians will weave through the streets, surprising and delighting visitors of all ages.
These interactive performances will bring a sense of wonder and festive sparkle to the heart of the city, making every corner of Donegall Place a place of holiday enchantment.
Antrim and Newtownabbey
Enchanted Winter Garden
Enchanted Winter Garden will return to Antrim Castle Gardens from Friday 28 November to Tuesday 30 December 2025, promising to be its most dazzling year yet.
In response to the event’s growing popularity, Enchanted Winter Garden will run for an additional four nights, giving families the opportunity to experience the magic through the festive season and up to just before New Year’s Eve.
This year’s event introduces a host of exciting new features designed to elevate the experience for visitors of all ages. Among the highlights is the debut of the Enchanted Tree Choir, a new attraction that will see the trees of the forest brought to life.
The Mayor’s Christmas Carol Evening
Join the Mayor for a heartwarming evening of music and community spirit at the Mayor’s Carol Evening on Wednesday 11 December at Theatre at The Mill.
This free festive concert is a chance to come together and enjoy beautiful performances from Ballyduff Silver Band, The Courtyard Community Choir, The Bridge Association and Glengormley School of Music as they fill the theatre with the sounds of Christmas.
Everyone is welcome. Bring your family, friends and neighbours for what promises to be a truly magical evening of music.
Santa’s Breakfast at Dobbies
Little ones get the chance to spend time with Santa and his elves.
Families will enjoy a breakfast fit for Santa before taking part in games and activities. They’ll then get to make their own winter character toy to name and take home.
This experience at the Antrim store at The Junction starts on Saturday 29 November and runs through to Christmas Eve.
Mid and East Antrim
Christmas at Glenarm Castle

All aboard for Christmas @ Whitehead Railway Museum
This December, let the spirit of Christmas carry you away on a festive journey like no other at Whitehead Railway Museum. With the glow of twinkling lights, the hiss of steam, and the nostalgic charm of the railway, this is a traditional Christmas experience designed to delight all ages.
Begin your visit with a short steam train ride, where the whole family can enjoy the magic of travelling by heritage rail. As the train chuffs along the track, little imaginations will come alive with excitement.

Farmers’ Choir NI Christmas Concert in Ballymena
Following a full house at their recent Spring Concert, the members of the Farmers’ Choir return to The Braid for their much-anticipated Christmas concert.
The choir will perform over two evenings (December 9 & 10) and audiences will be entertained with festive cheer, a few laughs and wonderful music. This talented group of singers, drawn from farming and rural communities across Northern Ireland, will delight you with a rich blend of Christmas favourites, from heartfelt carols to joyful seasonal classics.
Musical Director Barkley Thompson will be your host for the evening and, as always, he will have a few surprises up his sleeve. Adding to the magic of the evening, the choir will be joined by the wonderfully talented Rebekah Durston, whose skill on the violin is sure to captivate and inspire.
Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon
Armagh Georgian Festival
Armagh City will once again come alive this November as costumed characters; festive markets and a dazzling lightshow bring the annual Georgian Festival to life.
Taking place until Sunday 30 November, the event offers a glimpse into 18th-century life while marking the start of the Christmas season.
Over the course of four days the city will celebrate its rich Georgian heritage through immersive history, live performances, artisan markets, music, family entertainment and atmospheric lightshows across some of the city’s most iconic Georgian sites, from the Archbishop’s Palace to No. 5 Vicars’ Hill.
Visitors are invited to step back more than 250 years ago and experience Christmas as it might have been in the time of Archbishop Richard Robinson, the visionary who shaped much of the city’s Georgian character.
Mission Santa
Mission Santa: An Immersive Christmas Experience returns to Armagh Planetarium.
It’s a real Code Red! Join our E.L.F. crew on Mission Santa and blast off on a Christmas adventure. Your out-of-this-world adventure will include: Admission to a full-dome show in the dome theatre.

From December 8 to January 3, check out the stunning Live Manger at Tannaghmore Animal Farm – a truly magical experience for all the family to enjoy!

This December, Ebrington will be transformed into a magical Winter Light Trail, running from 8th–14th December, bringing festive sparkle to the heart of the city.

From 12th–14 December, in collaboration with The Playhouse, there will be pop-up storytelling sessions located near the historic Keep, perfect for families looking to soak up some Christmas magic. On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th December, Urban Events will host a Christmas pop-up market from 4pm–9pm, showcasing the best of local traders, crafts, and festive treats in collaboration with the Legenderry Food Network.

Wander through the wintry, cobbled streets of Ulster decorated for the festive season, from the humble surroundings of a single-room cabin to the indulgent Christmas of the Campbell House.
Meet Mrs Mellon and taste traditional Christmas cake, enjoy the festive sounds of brass bands, and take a horse and carriage ride around the Folk Park (if weather allows).

Dundonald Christmas Market returns to Moat Park Dundonald for an evening of festive shopping and fun.
The market will feature local artisans of food, art, craft and skincare. There will be artisan street food and speciality hot drinks – think seasonal coffees and hot chocolates.
Santa has promised to drop in to browse the market and stop for chats.

Royal Hillsborough Christmas Market
Christmas cheer is set to take over the village of Royal Hillsborough as the much-anticipated Christmas Market returns to The Dark Walk at Hillsborough Fort for two days this year.
Be sure to put the dates in your diary – Friday 12 th December from 3.00pm to 9.00pm and Saturday 13 th December from 12 noon to 6.00pm.
Lined with twinkling lights and complete with a visit from Santa himself. The scenic path through The Dark Walk to Hillsborough Fort will feature artisan foods to complete your festive table, the sound of Christmas music, and a plentiful street food offering and those all-important hot drinks including specialty coffees and hot chocolates to keep shoppers’ cosy throughout the event.
Lisburn Twilight Market
The market will be filled with the sounds, sights and tastes of Christmas. Enjoy a hot drink and bite to eat from one of the award-winning vendors. Stroll among the bustling mix of artists, crafters, health and beauty and homeware providers.
Santa himself just might find time in his busy schedule to pop along for a chat or bring his elves for some Christmas crafting!

Lisburn Light Trail at Castle Gardens
Step into a world of pure festive magic this Christmas as our renowned Christmas Light Trail make a grand return to Castle Gardens. Come along and take in the wonderful sights of the light show and visit the mini Christmas Market.
Visit Santa’s Grotto every Wednesday to Saturday (4.00pm-8.30pm, last entry 8.00pm). We will have a BSL Sign Language Interpreter in Santa’s Grotto every Thursday throughout December.

Christmas Cracker at Ballyscullion Park
Celebrate the magic of the season at Ballyscullion Park’s festive Christmas event in collaboration with Real Princesses NI. Set in a stunning historic location, guests will be treated to a professional Christmas-themed performance filled with heartwarming stories, music, and festive cheer for all ages to enjoy.
Following the show, there’s a chance to meet the cast including Mrs Clause, Bud the Elf and Snow sisters Anna & Elsa, offering children and families the opportunity to interact with their favourite characters in a fun and festive atmosphere.

Christmas Wonderland at The Jungle
This December, The Jungle becomes a twinkling world of festive wonder, where every path sparkles and every corner hides a little Christmas cheer. Families can wander through our enchanted woodland, meet Santa and his merry elves, and soak up the glow of dazzling lights and joyful laughter.
On arrival, you’ll be welcomed into the Christmas marquee by our friendly elves, who will offer a festive hot drink and a little treat. A quick walk to the main entrance and the journey begins.
Hop onto The Jungle Express and get transported through the magical forest, with the good company of Buddy The Elf. Buddy loves singing, telling stories and being a bit of a rascal!
Next stop is Santa’s Workshop, where our helpful elves will greet you with a smile on arrival.
