Northern Ireland weather forecast for first week of December

The weather forecaster is predicting a mixed bag of conditions this week

We’re now into the first week of December, and it won’t be too long until we’re getting ready to celebrate the Christmas period.

The Met Office is predicting a mixed bag for this week’s weather forecast, with a mix of heavy rain, cloudy conditions, and sunny spells expected throughout the week.

However, despite a recent spell of frosty days, it’s expected that temperatures throughout this week will remain at or above average for this time of year.

Here is what you can expect from the weather in Northern Ireland this week:

Monday:

Early cloud and outbreaks of heavy rain will soon clear east, leaving mainly dry and increasingly sunny conditions from the late morning. Maximum temperature 9 C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Dry with sunny periods Tuesday becoming cloudy with a few showers passing east Tuesday night. Dry Wednesday then bands of rain pass east Wednesday night and again Thursday.

UK long range forecast, December 4-13

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Changeable and often unsettled conditions are expected to affect the UK during this period. The most likely weather pattern is one of successive areas of low pressure moving in from the west or southwest and then tending to become rather slow-moving in the vicinity of the UK.

“This means a story of showers or longer spells of rain, with almost anywhere seeing some heavy rainfall at times, but the greatest chance of wetter than normal conditions will be in the west. Any snowfall is most likely over higher ground in the north.

“Strong winds are also a possibility from time to time, again perhaps more likely in western areas. Given the changeable pattern originating from the Atlantic, temperatures will most likely be close to or a little above normal.”
