Alternative Christmas market happening on Sundays in Belfast this festive season

“This Christmas, shop local, support artists, and celebrate creativity in the heart of Belfast”

An alternative arts Christmas market will take place in the heart of Belfast in the lead up to Santa’s arrival.

This festive season, the Cathedral Quarter Sunday Art Market transforms into the CQ Christmas Sunday Art Market, bringing art, atmosphere, and Christmas magic to Hill Street every Sunday from 16 November to 21 December.

From 10am to 3pm, Hill Street will be lined with stalls from local artists, designers, and independent makers, each offering unique, handcrafted gifts and festive finds.

Expect twinkling lights, creative flair, and that unmistakable Cathedral Quarter charm, all in one of Belfast’s most atmospheric settings.

Presented by Cathedral Quarter BID, this special edition of the market builds on the success of the summer, adding a festive twist.

Visitors can explore a carefully curated selection of art, crafts, and seasonal goods while enjoying the warm community spirit that defines the Cathedral Quarter.

Children can visit the Christmas craft table to write a letter to Santa, decorate it with festive colours, and pop it into Santa’s special North Pole Mail box.

The market will see Hill Street pedestrianised from 7am – 5pm each Sunday, creating a safe, walkable space. Visitors can access the market easily from Commercial Court, Exchange Place, Gordon Street, and Waring Street.

Damien Corr, Manager of Cathedral Quarter BID, said: “There’s something truly special about Christmas in the Cathedral Quarter — the lights, the atmosphere, and the creative energy.

“The CQ Christmas Sunday Art Market brings all of that together, celebrating our local artists and offering something unique.

“This Christmas, shop local, support artists, and celebrate creativity in the heart of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter — where art meets the magic of the season.”
