A body has been recovered from a lake in Turkey following a search for a Northern Irish man who went missing while swimming in a lake.

The man, who is believed to be in his 40s, is understood to have travelled to the Antalya region of Turkey to visit his girlfriend.

Belfast Live understands that the pair went on a boat trip to Oymapinar Dam Lake in the Manavgat district of Antalya last week. The man entered the water for a swim before getting into difficulty.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance,” they said.

“As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases.”
