Belfast Live visited Fright Night at The Jungle in Moneymore and enjoyed every minute of it

I have not always been the most enthusiastic person about Halloween, horror films or just feeling slightly scared so I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of Fright Night at The Jungle and was very surprised by my experience.

While I am not crazy about Halloween, my fiancé, M, is, so I volunteered to go along to Fright Night for Belfast Live to see what it would be like and had heard from others who have been to previous years that it was a lot of fun.

When we arrived at The Jungle, the car park was packed, but the staff there guided us to a space very quickly, and we headed inside. The walk down to the tunnel that leads into the facility adds a bit to the atmosphere, with spooky music playing as you walk along. The tunnel itself is a good location for you to be cornered by one of the many chainsaw-wielding clowns or scary things roaming about the area.

Fright Night is based around the main attraction, the Woodland trail, which is at the far end of the complex, so you need to give yourself some time to get there for your time slot. There are also six other smaller scare attractions that you are able to visit, and you use tokens to go to them.

We headed straight for the Woodland trail when we got there, which is about a 10 minute walk from the entrance, and as neither of us had done something like this before we were not sure what to expect.

Heading off along the lantern-lit trail in the darkness definitely puts you on edge. The attraction sees you stop off at various points to enter different houses and speak to the “people” inside. This is while you are “guided” by a silent figure in a hazmat suit who often pops up behind you when you least expect it.

The trail was full of lots of jumps and scares, and those involved did a great job creating a spooky atmosphere. There was also the occasional “person” chasing you, and we were both very impressed with it all.

After this we thought we would try some of the other smaller scare attractions, not knowing quite what they would be.

Firstly, we went to ‘The Circus, ‘ which was quite an intense 10 minutes. You felt like you were lost in a maze of tunnels while scary clowns popped out from behind every corner. It probably had M screaming more than anything else we visited.

After this, we visited The Cornfield, which felt like it was straight out of a horror film. You walked around a corn maze with “creatures” popping out at you from everywhere.

Throughout Fright Night, you can tell that a lot of care and attention has been put into developing and running the event, which we thought was great fun from start to finish. I think it would be very hard to find a Halloween attraction that gets your heart racing quite like Fright Night, and it is well worth a visit this year.
