The deal ends on December 4
If a new MacBook is on your Christmas wish list, or that of a loved one, you can still snag a big saving amid the remaining Black Friday deals. Although the official sale date of November 28 has passed, there’s one retailer still offering lower prices for Apple shoppers.
Sky Mobile continues to offer the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch at £20 per month. The M4 model’s monthly rate has been reduced from its usual £22 for pay-monthly customers.
While it might not seem like a huge discount, it amounts to a saving of £96 over the full 48-month contract, provided shoppers take advantage of the deal before the December 4 deadline.
One of the standout features of Sky’s Apple plans is the option for consumers to spread the cost, avoiding the need to shell out hundreds in one go, like Very shoppers would with its £849 sale price on the model, which is matched at Amazon too.
With Sky’s discounted price, the MacBook Air M4 equates to 66p per day, based on an average 30-day month. This makes it a more affordable way to purchase one of Apple’s flagship devices, which the tech giant claims ‘unlocks a whole new level of performance’ due to last year’s chip upgrade, reports Wales Online.
However, there are a few points to note about Sky’s MacBook Air plan. The full contract period spans 48 months, but customers have the option to swap their device from the 36th month onwards.
There’s also an initial one-off cost of £2 when customers sign up for the plan. Next, and arguably most vital, is data costs. The cheapest costs £2 on top of the device cost, and that’s for 1GB of monthly data. However, we’d suggest a slightly bigger plan for streaming, scrolling social media, and tapping into the occasional video call.
Currently, 40GB of monthly Sky data is priced at £10, which should suffice for casual use outside of WiFi. Alternatively, unlimited data is available for £25 a month.
In terms of other laptop deals, Mobiles.co.uk is worth checking out, particularly for Samsung offers. Currently, anyone purchasing a Samsung Galaxy FE can receive a free Chromebook laptop with their mobile plan.
The Chromebook Go included in the Samsung plan is a 14-inch device with LTE connectivity.
However, it falls short of the MacBook Air M4 in terms of processing speed and performance and was launched in 2021. Meanwhile, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is still available on Amazon for £422, down from its usual price just under £500.
The MacBook Air M4 has previously been hailed as a device ‘that keeps on giving’. Tech Editor David Snelling praised it in an Express review, describing it as ‘unmatchable for the price’ back in 2024.
As well as the powerful M4 chip, which has a boosted performance compared to the M2 models, David highlighted the battery and power as standout features. However, a small design feature was mentioned.
He commented: “It’s a bit of a shame that you only get two USB-C ports on one side of the device, and although it starts from a cheaper £999 it can get expensive if you start adding extras. But otherwise this is a brilliant upgrade to a device that was already at the top of its game.”
