Roman Kemp made an emotional admission about his dad as I’m A Celebrity fans issued the same complaint
Roman Kemp has said that his I’m A Celebrity dad Martin “doesn’t have mates” in a candid admission.
After watching Tuesday’s (December 2) episode, where the campmates were treated to a night out in the Jungle Arms, Roman wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “One thing I have noticed is my dad keeps saying ‘my new friends’.
“He genuinely doesn’t have mates so he means it, he’ll really be chuffed. Again not being mean, that’s the truth.”
He also opened up about his father’s limited screen time on the ITV series. Martin, one of this year’s participants, has been noticeably absent from much of the show’s footage, leading many viewers to question his whereabouts.
Martin was part of the original line-up heading into the jungle this year, six years after his son Roman appeared on the show. However, during his time in Australia, Martin has scarcely been seen on camera, reports the Mirror.

Fans are clamouring for the Spandau Ballet musician to have a more prominent role on the show. One fan pleaded: “Martin gets 0 airtime, someone make him do a trial or smth pls, atp do camp even know he’s still in there #imaceleb.”
Another echoed this sentiment, requesting: “Please show more of Martin, imagine the stories he could be telling about the 80’s, his Spandau Ballet days and not being shown.”
Roman has also appeared frustrated by his father’s lack of screen time. When Martin’s conversation with a fellow campmate was aired earlier this week, Roman shared his excitement on social media.
The radio presenter shared footage of Declan Donnelly, one half of the show’s presenting duo, making his way across the rope bridge whilst sparklers erupted behind him. Roman captioned the post: “My dad had an actual conversation on camera!!! #ImACelebrity.”
After watching the campmates enjoy their time in The Jungle Arms, viewers grew increasingly frustrated with campmate Lisa Riley, who got up to sing Spandau Ballet’s hit Gold with Martin.
When the track began playing, Lisa took the microphone and started singing, as Martin tried to take the microphone back. One frustrated viewer posted: “Lisa you’ve just sang your own song let Martin sing his own song thanks.”
A second viewer remarked: “Poor Martin was just trying to sing his own song but couldn’t get the mic off Lisa,” whilst a third observed: “Poor Martin couldn’t even get airtime on his own bloody song lmao.”
Some fear that Martin’s limited screen time might result in him becoming the next star to be eliminated, following Kelly Brook, Vogue Williams, Eddie Kadi and Alex Scott’s departures.
