Emmerdale fans are convinced that Cain Dingle has been up to no good while he was in France looking for John Sugden and some believe he’s had an affair
Emmerdale fans have foreseen a surprising infidelity twist involving Cain Dingle.
Cain, portrayed by Jeff Hordley, has been a constant presence on the soap for 25 years, having made his first appearance in 2000. As the village’s mischievous womaniser, he has won over the hearts of viewers.
He has also been involved in numerous major plotlines. From his love affair with cousin Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, to his illicit relationship and subsequent romance with Moira, enacted by Natalie J. Robb, his stint in the Dales has been anything but drama-free.
Particularly at present, as Cain recently discovered that his son Nate Robinson, played by Jurrell Carter, was killed by John Sugden, portrayed by Oliver Farnworth. Fans will remember that John murdered Nate last year and disposed of his body in a lake, reports the Daily Star.
Nate’s body was eventually discovered and John managed to frame an innocent individual. However, the truth came tumbling down for John when his crimes were revealed.
With everyone seeking revenge, John coerced Caleb Miligan, played by William Ash, into assisting him in his escape, and John successfully fled to France. Determined to make him pay, Cain then left the village to try and track him down.
This week, Cain returned to the village after getting himself arrested. His wife Moira was livid with Cain, who seemed intent on self-destructive behaviour, even lashing out at his loved ones including son Kyle, played by Huey Quinn.
Cain finally confessed to Moira that his search for John in France had been unsuccessful, despite locating some of his former army mates. Feeling defeated, Cain turned to alcohol, landing him in hot water with the law.
However, in Thursday’s episode (October 16), Cain managed to mend fences with his family, thanks to some stern advice from his mate Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
Yet, viewers are now suspecting that Cain is concealing more about his time in France. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, fans have speculated a devastating infidelity twist.
“Never seen Cain like this before, hope he sorts himself out,” one viewer commented. Another added: “I think there’s more to it…” A third suggested: “Maybe he cheated on Moira when he was away.” A fourth posted: “Good idea, if that’s the case I’ll be so upset.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
