‘She’s the best’ Katie Taylor’s mystery husband speaks for first time since marriage

Katie Taylor’s husband Sean McCavanagh has spoken publicly for the first time since marrying the boxing legend earlier this year

Katie Taylor’s husband has broken his silence for the first time, declaring to journalists that his new bride is “the best!”. Taylor was photographed alongside her husband for the first time as a married couple last week whilst Katie visited a rehabilitation facility in her native county of Wicklow, where she chatted with residents for hours and discussed the highs and lows of her professional journey.

Katie’s spouse is an American gentleman named Sean McCavanagh, and the Sunday World managed to speak with the property professional to secure his inaugural public remarks since wedding Taylor.

When questioned about his feelings regarding being wed to Taylor, McCavanagh responded “It’s the best ever, she’s the best! .”

And when pressed about his enjoyment of his recent days in Ireland, he answered “How could you not?” he said. “I loved my time in Ireland, I’m home now.”

Property agent Sean, whose relatives originate from Manchester in the US,facilitated Katie’s acquisition of her €455,000 residence in Connecticut back in December 2023.

It is understood that the pair wed in Ireland earlier this year during an intimate ceremony attended by only close friends and family.

Speculation regarding Taylor’s marriage emerged during the summer when she was seen sporting a wedding band prior to her trilogy clash with Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden.

Following weeks of speculation, Katie’s father, Pete – with whom she recently made amends – featured on a podcast and verified that the ‘Bray Bomber’ was indeed married. “I was reading somewhere that Katie Taylor never got married because of her father, he wouldn’t let her. Katie’s married, you know, and I’m thinking, ‘Where are you getting this s*** from?'” said Pete on the Anything goes podcast.

Throughout her career, Katie has kept her personal life extremely private and has seldom, if ever, discussed her romantic relationships.

In her Netflix documentary that was broadcast several years ago, Katie spoke for one of the rare occasions about her love life:.

“Sometimes I think I’m a bit too single-minded where I only think about the next flight.

“I’m not too sure whether I want to get married, whether I want to have kids.”

She added with a laugh: “I don’t think I’d be able for that. I can hardly look after myself.

“I’ve definitely had opportunities where I’ve been in relationships with guys and stuff, but it’s never really worked out.

“They just weren’t the right guy, I guess. And I always felt like life was a lot easier as a single person when I am training so much. And I’m very, very happy as a single person as well, but I don’t regret any decisions I’ve made.”
