New Belfast ‘Noughties’ night to feature live band and DJs rolling back the years

It was the decade that gave us flip phones, Pop Idol, iPod shuffle, Facebook, Big Brother and Harry Potter, but it was the music of the noughties that was the real highlight.

Belfast is to get a new party night, and this time it’s the music of the 2000s being celebrated! It was the decade that gave us flip phones, Pop Idol, iPod shuffle, Facebook, Big Brother and Harry Potter, but it was the music of the noughties that was the real highlight.

Y2K is the new project from the same people responsible for the Pleasuredome 80’s nights at Belfast’s Empire, and now they are taking their ‘DeLorean’ straight to the year 2000!

The party night will be held at Belfast’s iconic Empire Music Hall and will be a celebration of nostalgia for Millennials and Gen Z. The live Y2K band features U105’s Maurice Jay while Cool FM’s Stuart Robinson, whose 30+ nights have been a big hit recently, will be DJ’ing before and after the bands live performance.

Maurice said: “There’s no other atmosphere like a live gig with a 6 piece band blasting out the hits and the Empire is such an incredible venue for live music, we’ve been performing our 80’s and 90’s nights for over 15 years here and as it’s now been 25 years since the turn of the millennium we feel the time is right for a night dedicated to the audience heading out every week to bars and clubs in Belfast – the songs they grew up with”.

Stuart added: “Over the past year or so we’ve seen a huge rise in people of a certain age who just want to go out a little earlier on a Saturday night, have a good time and sing and dance to the songs that they remember and love and be up the next morning feel fresh – enough passage of time has passed that people are now really nostalgic about acts like Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys and we will unashamedly play all that kind of stuff!

“From Kylie to The Killers, Lady Gaga, Westlife, Girls Aloud and more – there’s so much great music between 2000-2009 that we can’t wait to dig into”

Tickets are already selling fast for Northern Ireland’s new ‘Noughties Night’ which launches at 7.30 pm on Saturday 1 st November 2025 at the Belfast Empire Music Hall and are available from Ticketmaster or The Belfast Empire.
