Anne Nolan joined Loose Women as she opened up about her cancer battle alongside her sister Coleen Nolan and panellists Nadia Sawalha, Ruth Langsford and Kelly Holmes
Anne Nolan has opened up about her heart-wrenching battle with cancer during an appearance on Loose Women.
The 74-year-old singer joined her younger sister Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford, Dame Kelly Holmes, and Nadia Sawalha on Tuesday’s episode of the ITV daytime show to help raise awareness of breast cancer.
Anne shared her experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, before the disease returned in 2020.
Following a series of treatments and a procedure, Anne was recently informed by doctors that she was ‘cancer free’, which left the star emotional.
She explained: “So we have a mammogram every year if you have had breast cancer. And then at the end of five years, you have your final mammogram, and they tell you then if it has all gone”, reports the Express.

“I got my letter through the post and I didn’t open it for about two hours as I was so scared it was going to be bad news.”
She added: “Eventually I opened it and it was good news, it said I was cancer free so that was amazing.”
Ruth asked: “What did you do? Do you cry? Or are you silent?”.
Anne replied: “No I cried. I was so worried the letter was going to say I need to go back, so when it said, ‘I’m happy to tell you you’re cancer free…'”.
The singer then went on to explain that her five-year result doesn’t mean the cancer will not return again in the future.
She added: “I think that is always what you live with when you have had cancer, there is always a chance it could come back again.”
The Nolan family has been deeply impacted by cancer, with the sisters losing Bernie at 52 in 2013 following a three-year battle with breast cancer.
Their other sister, Linda, was diagnosed with incurable cancer after initially being diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2005 and receiving the all-clear in 2006.
Unfortunately, the disease returned in 2017 and spread to her liver and brain. Linda passed away in January 2025.
Loose Women is broadcast on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
