“To all of you who have been so kind to me and my family these past few months, can I just say a huge go raibh míle maith agat”
Patrick Kielty has thanked fans for their support over the summer after the news of his separation from wife Cat Deeley.
The Co Down man became tearful and emotional as he marked the return of The Late Late Show on Friday night.
In July, the RTE show’s host, 54, and This Morning’s Cat Deeley 48, announced that they had taken the decision to end their 13 year marriage, stressing that ‘no other party’ was involved.

On the opening of tonight’s episode, Patrick became emotional as he spoke to the cameras, to viewers watching from home, and those in the audience.
He said: “It is so nice to be back with you. Especially after this summer where I’ve genuinely been blown away by all the love and support that you guys have sent my way.
“One of the greatest joys of hosting this show is that you’re never alone. And so to all of you who have been so kind to me and my family these past few months, can I just say a huge go raibh míle maith agat.”
Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to praise the host.
One user wrote: “That was a perfect way for Patrick to address things without actually going into anything. He for sure has had so much goodwill towards him, because he’s one of the good guys.”
