The enigmatic Parisian-based band SCHØØL release ‘OK

by wellnessfitpro

Ūber cool Parisian-based band SCHØØL, consisting of members from France, the US and Australia, today release their final single ‘OK NSMLYD‘ (already a contender for single of the past few years for me), ‘The End‘ and ‘Gardener‘, this is another prime example of the louche insouciance displayed by this band; a warm and fuzzy style of low-fi indie pop that has within its DNA traces of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Fontaines D.C. and Horsegirl.

This song displays the trademark swagger of the band – a song about romantic obsession that gives the album its wry title:

I think my life has been OK
You caught my eyes
But I ripped my soul
I think I’m dying everyday
You stab my heart
And I leave my soul

To celebrate the release and to whet the appetite for the album release, the band has released a little mini-trailer directed by Ludovic Azémar:

The new single is available download and stream here.

You can pre-save the new album which is out on 5 September through Géographie / Modulor from here and via the link below.

The band has a few live dates coming up across France:

SCHØØL was formed in Paris in fall 2023 led by Francis Mallari (Rendez-Vous) with Erica Ashleson (Special Friend, Dog Park) on bass, Jack Moase (Liquid Face) on guitar and Alex Battez (Marble Arch) on drums. They united to form the band they dreamed of as teenagers, inspired by 90s shoegaze bands such as Swirlies or Drop Nineteens.

‘I Think my life has been OK’ is SCHØØL’s debut album. SCHØØL is shaping up to be one of the most exciting French rock bands of the moment and the album much anticipated..
