Melbourne singer-songwriter Clint Wilson has released his new single When I Find Somebody New, recorded at his Ziggy Tone studio and produced by Kevin Bennett, with engineering by Damian Cafarella.
The track explores the early stages of new relationships and the tendency to hide flaws, inspired by a close friend’s divorce. Wilson describes the imagery as “a cat strutting around the neighbourhood, searching for someone it thinks will treat them better.”
When I Find Somebody New sits within Wilson’s alt-country and folk framework, echoing touchstones like Paul Kelly, The Go-Betweens and Crowded House, while also drawing on vintage pop. The single offers an early glimpse of his forthcoming fourth album, due later this year, which will feature contributions from family and friends as his backing band.
Wilson’s career began in 2017 and has since included three albums, collaborations with Billie-Jo Porter and Gretta Ziller, and shows at Tamworth Country Music Festival as well as support slots for Kevin Bennett and Andrew Swift. His most recent album, L.A. (2023), was recorded in California with Grammy-nominated producer Callum Barter and bassist Paul Bushnell.
