Back for another bold outing, Dayton-born rapper Isai Morales is turning heads with his latest single, Chilaquiles, a vibrant fusion of Latino heritage and jazz-funk energy. Featuring collaborator Blvck Svm, the track sees Morales continuing the momentum of a prolific year, already marked by five singles.
Starting as it means to go on, Chilaquiles lands as a rap anthem of authenticity, narrating tales of staying true to oneself and refusing to back down. An atmospheric sample opens the track, giving it sleek finesse, while Morales’ razor-sharp flow delivers an undeniably authentic edge. Clocking in at just under two minutes and produced by Por Vida and Mane, the track packs an explosive punch, showcasing the expansive reach of Morales’ artistry.
Reflecting on the track’s origins, Morales shares, “I wrote Chilaquiles during a time in my life where I was learning to be more present in the moment, while simultaneously remembering who I was, and who I am.”
Morales’ upbringing as one of the few Latinos in the Midwest informs his distinctive worldview. Drawing inspiration from his family history and personal experiences, he channels these into his music with sincerity and flair. His unique vision has already earned recognition—he was a finalist in Jarritos’ JarriTODOS grant contest and went on to win the Mineragua Fizz to Jazz contest in 2023.
