Belfast football fan does cooking challenge from stadium as people left floored

A man has set himself a rather unique cooking challenge while in a football stadium, and somehow he managed to make it work, despite all the setbacks that he experienced at first

Football fans were left stunned when a man embarked on an unusual challenge at a football stadium. Typically, a match day involves pints, winter gear, and soaking up the camaraderie and atmosphere. However, one spectator, John Nellis, from Belfast, decided to take things up a notch by attempting to cook a steak during the game. The catch? He had to eat it at full-time, regardless of its state.

A bizarre concept, indeed, but that’s exactly what he did, as documented on TikTok. “Can you cook a steak in a football stadium? I hope so, because I have to eat it at full-time, no matter what,” he declared at the start of his video. Even if the steak was raw, he was committed to chowing down on it.

His initial plan was straightforward: ask the staff to cook it for him. However, after some discussion, they declined his request.

Undeterred, John had a backup plan. “I climbed the steps with steak in hand, and headed to my seat, and I’d come prepared,” he explained.

He then placed the steak on a foil baking tray, using it as a makeshift frying pan, and attempted to cook it with a lighter.

But deep down, he likely knew this method wouldn’t fully cook the steak and he was quick to move onto something else.

While it was somewhat successful, it would’ve taken ages to cook the entire steak, and he only had 90 minutes to spare.

Fortunately, he still “had one final idea”, insisting this scheme was “going to work”.

He returned to the stadium food kiosk and purchased “four cups of boiling hot beef drink”, carrying them back to his seat where the steak sat waiting in its foil container.

“Once the game kicked off, I seasoned my steak with salt and pepper, before placing it inside this giant flask and pouring in my beef drinks,” he declared triumphantly.

He remarked on how “hot” the beef drinks were, quietly hoping the Bovril would cook the steak sufficiently to make it palatable before full-time.

John explained: “And with my steak cooking in boiling water, I sat back and enjoyed the football. Then once the referee blew her half-time whistle, it was finally time to see what I had to eat.

“I popped open the lid, and was amazed to see that it was cooked!” John was then spotted devouring the rather unappetising-looking steak.

In the comments section, one person wrote: “Boiled steak,” accompanied by a heartbroken emoji. Another quipped: “Imagine being 3-0 down and some lad behind you cooking a sirloin”.
