YouTuber Angry Ginge had a ‘traumatising’ run-in with the police just months before his ITV debut

Before his stint in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, YouTuber Angry Ginge had a ‘traumatising’ encounter with the police.

The 24-year-old internet sensation, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was at a Silverstone race this July with fellow content creators Chazza and SamHam.

However, they found themselves in hot water after being accused of causing £30,000 worth of criminal damage to a Formula 1 racing car.

The trio were livestreaming from the British Grand Prix site when their broadcast was abruptly halted by the police, leading to a 15-hour stint in jail, as per Ginge’s account.

In a candid chat with his followers post-arrest, Ginge shed light on the incident: “The car, it is there, me, Sam and Chazza have walked past it, and then we’ve stopped, ‘Oh, there’s people getting in and out of it, alright Chaz, you go and get in it,’ he recounted,” reports the Daily Star.

He explained that as content creators, they thought it would be a humorous moment for their stream.

“Because content creators, alright, create a funny moment, which it was a funny moment, until the cell door shut and weren’t laughing then let me tell you, I’m genuinely traumatised from what I went through there.”

Ginge further clarified that Chaz, whose real name is Charlie Clark, didn’t even fully sit in the car. They thought it would be amusing to film him pretending to struggle to fit into the vehicle.

The entire fiasco is documented in his YouTube video about the arrest.

Ginge added: “Then security came over, as Chaz is already out at this point, security haven’t actually seen Chazza in it, then they tell the other people to go in.

“Now, as a little funny moment, I think, ‘This will be funny, I’ll try get Chazza in [trouble]’. [So I say] ‘Hang on a minute, he’s just been in there.’ Again, just being laughing and joking, thinking nothing is really up with it.”

The reality television personality continued by revealing that officers instructed him to stop the live broadcast and proceeded to place the three men under arrest at around 9pm.

They were freed “15 hours” later and advised viewers watching at home to “stay out of trouble” following the “brutal” ordeal.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police stated: “On Friday, July 4, Northamptonshire Police received a report that a classic Formula 1 car on display at Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix event had sustained several thousands of pounds worth of damage, which was alleged to have been caused by someone accessing the display stand and climbing into the vehicle.”

They continued: “Officers carried out initial inquiries, and suspects were identified. Three men, aged 23, 25 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a vehicle and taken into police custody. Following a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident, all three men were released with no further action.”

Despite being exonerated by police, the three weren’t permitted to return for the remainder of the Silverstone event.
