Emmerdale’s Kev Townsend left viewers speechless during Tuesday’s episode

Emmerdale viewers were left crying over a “nightmare” Kev Townsend moment on Tuesday (November 18).

Fans of the ITV soap will be aware that Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) secret prison husband, Kev (Chris Coghill), recently made his appearance in the village, much to the annoyance of his ex-husband Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

Kev informed Robert that he was released on compassionate grounds due to a terminal illness, with only months to live.

However, local GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) has since discovered the truth about Kev’s condition, which isn’t as life-threatening as he initially claimed.

Shortly after Kev and Robert renewed their vows, Robert ended things with his upset spouse, who has been trying to mend their relationship ever since, reports the Daily Star.

In tonight’s episode, Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) hosted a housewarming party for Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) at Dale View, with several villagers attending.

As the party kicked off, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) took to the karaoke machine with a Spice Girls hit, but the atmosphere quickly changed when Kev walked in.

Robert and Aaron were taken aback when Kev arrived and decided to perform drunken karaoke. In an effort to win back his husband, the ex-convict started singing Daniel Bedingfield’s 2002 love anthem If You’re Not the One.

The remainder of the group watched in dismay as the track played on, with Kev subsequently feeling rejected and departing the gathering alongside Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson).

Robert later went to see how Kev was doing, and shortly found himself pledging to support him when his death arrives, leaving Kev thrilled and Aaron rather less enthusiastic.

After watching the episode, numerous Emmerdale viewers swiftly turned to social media to express their astonishment at Kev’s spontaneous karaoke performance.

“Okay but Kev singing will defo be in my nightmares tonight,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), with another adding: “I haven’t laughed that much in ages.”

A third said: “Honestly I can’t stop watching it. It’s so cringe it’s hilarious and Aaron’s cocky facial expressions are amazing. Crying with laughter.”

A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “Was cringing so much I had to fast forward,” with another similarly sharing: “I couldn’t cope with the singing. Kev is so unpredictable which is scary.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
