Several candlelit vigils will take place this evening to honour the five young people killed in a horror crash in Co Louth over the weekend.
Chloe McGee and her boyfriend, Alan McCluskey along with pals Chloe Hipson, Dylan Commins and Shay Duffy all lost their lives on Saturday evening when the Volkswagen Golf they were travelling in collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser in Dundalk.
A sixth individual, a man, who was also in the Golf at the time of the collision survived with serious but non-life threatening injuries and currently being treated in hospital. The two occupants of the Land Cruiser were also hospitalised following the crash, but neither suffered life threatening injuries.

One of the vigils will take at Sean McDermott’s Gaelic Football Club in Ardee, another will take place at Aughnamullen GAA in Monaghan while the the third will take place at Drumconrath GFC.
Both Aughnamullen an Drumconrath’s vigils will take place at 7pm while Sean McDermotts will take place at 7:30pm.
Sean McDermott wrote: “A Candlelight Vigil will be held this evening, Tuesday, 18th November at our clubhouse at 7:30pm.
“We will gather together with candlelight for prayer and remembrance for all those effected by Saturday night’s tragic and untimely events All are welcome to attend, to remember, and to find support and comfort together.”
Aughnamullen GAA said: “With the permission of the McGee family, Aughnamullen GAA and LGFA are holding a candlelight vigil for the late Chloe McGee. Please come along to show your support to Chloe’s family and friends at this tragic time.”
And Drumconrath said: “Sadness surrounds our community, and heavy hearts are felt by all. In this time of deep sadness in our community, our club will hold a candlelight vigil tomorrow evening, Tuesday, 18th November at 7pm in Drumconrath GFC
“All are welcome to join us as we stand together in support and solidarity. We will remember all the victims of Saturday nights tragedy and offer prayers for their families and friends at this difficult time. We ask anyone in attendance to bring a candle.”
