Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue were called to the scene just before 11pm on Sunday.
Around 450 pigs have died following a huge fire that happened overnight at a farm in Co Tyrone. Firefighters were called at just before 11pm last night (Sunday, November 9) to reports of a fire in Newtownstewart.
Crews from Strabane, Newtownstewart, Castlederg, Fintona, Kilrea, Omagh, Pomeroy and Northland attended.
The fire is believed to have started by accident, the fire service said.
Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a farm shed on fire on Fyfin Road, Newtownstewart.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels jets to bring the fire under control and to stop it from spreading.
“Unfortunately, approximately 450 pigs died in the incident. The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental ignition and the incident was dealt with by 2.58am (Monday 10 November 2025).”
