Loose Women fans were left fuming as they noticed that Charlene White had not worn a poppy while hosting the ITV daytime show, with some branding the decision “disrespectful”
Loose Women viewers have expressed frustration after observing that panellist Charlene White was not wearing a poppy to mark Remembrance Day.
Whilst presenting the daytime programme, the ITV News anchor appeared without the poppy on her clothing, unlike her fellow panellists.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Charlene shouldn’t be presenting as she doesn’t want to wear a poppy. No respect.”
Another commented: “I do think it’s disrespectful for Charlene not to wear a poppy. I know it gets mentioned every year.”
A third added: “Charlene, why do you refuse to wear a Poppy? Every single person on the panel, in the audience, are wearing one, so why not you?”.

Charlene appeared alongside Oti Mabuse, former pop star Kelle Bryan and comedian Judi Love during a recent episode of the programme.
What particularly frustrated audiences was the contrast between Charlene and her co-hosts, who all wore poppies. The poppy serves as a symbol of remembrance for those who died during the World Wars.
One viewer wrote: “Does Charlene not care that many men lost their lives fighting for our country? The disrespect of her not wearing a poppy is disgraceful.”
“Why isn’t Charlene White wearing a poppy?! Everyone else on Loose Women panel is. Disgraceful.” Someone else said: “Total disgrace to the memory of those who gave their lives for our future.”
However, some users on X rallied behind the broadcaster. One supporter commented: “In a democracy, you are supposed to be free to have your own views and opinions, not what the poppy police say you should do.” Another added: “Oops, the poppy police are out again.’
This is not the first time the TV presenter has not worn a poppy, and in a previous article, she explained why.
In a piece penned for ITV, former I’m A Celebrity star Charlene acknowledged the choice was “never an easy decision due to the racist and sexist abuse” she receives on social media, whilst recognising her stance would inevitably provoke “a lot of anger.”
She explained that ITV guidelines prevented her from visibly endorsing charitable causes whilst “presenting ITV News programming.”
She continued: “Please don’t think that I don’t understand the sacrifices made by servicemen and women 100 years ago. I do.
“It is always important to remember what my family, your family, and millions of people over many generations have fought for: the right to choose, and the right of freedom of speech and expression.”
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
