A British holidaymaker has died and another is critically injured after the incident
A holidaymaker has tragically died and another is critically injured after reportedly plummeting nearly 20ft in Lanzarote when a hotel railing ‘gave way’. The incident occurred early this morning at a hotel in the popular resort of Costa Teguise.
A 56 year old British man was declared dead at the scene, while a 54 year old British man was seriously injured and rushed to Doctor Jose Molina Orosa Hospital, where he remains in a critical state.
Emergency services were called to the hotel around 1.30am following reports that two people had fallen from a ‘considerable height’.

Members of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), local police and Spanish Civil Guard attended the scene, reports the Irish Mirror.
Local reports suggest that the railing that gave way was situated in an elevated area of the hotel complex. The Civil Guard has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office told Mirror UK: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who has died and to the family of a British man who has been injured in Spain.”
In August, a British tourist on holiday in Spain sustained horrifying injuries after he fell off a hotel balcony. The 22 year old holidaymaker fell from the third floor of the building in Ibiza around 8pm on August 18, suffering injuries to his chest and head.
