A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder
A Co Antrim community has been left in shock following the suspected murder of a young mother in Newtownabbey. Police were called to reports of a suspicious death in the Old Mill Drive area on Sunday, October 12, with a murder investigation being launched in the following hours.
It is understood that a young mother of two has been killed, bringing shock and sadness to the local community.
A 40-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.

Sinn Fein Newtownabbey councillor Taylor McGrann told Belfast Live he was in the area this morning supporting local residents following the tragic news and said the entire community is in shock.
The councillor said that his heart goes out to the family and friends of the young woman at this sad time.
He said: “Absolutely tragic situation in our community, the whole community is in shock.
“My heart goes out to the family and friend circle of the young woman who has been killed. “I understand a 40-year-old man has been arrested.
“My thoughts are with the family of the woman at this sad time.”
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating a report of a suspicious death in the Old Mill Drive area of Newtownabbey have this evening, Sunday 12th October, made an arrest.
“One man, aged 40, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“He remains in custody at this time, assisting with police enquiries.
“A further update will be provided in due course.”
