The Monsieur Cuisine Smart will be coming to the middle aisle in Northern Ireland after a great response in the Republic

These days it seems like there is a new must have cooking appliance that is meant to revolutionise our kitchens. From steamers and food processors to air fryers there is always something new that is being released.

Now, Lidl say they are offering the solution with its new middle aisle product which is designed to be all of your cooking appliances rolled into one, the Monsieur Cuisine Smart. A hi-tech thermomixer, it advertises itself as being the only appliance you will need to have in your kitchen that will not only cook food, but take a lot of the hassle out of it too.

After hearing that the device was due to be arriving in middle aisles in Northern Ireland, I was keen to take up Lidl’s offer to try the Monsieur Cuisine Smart for myself and see what it would be like.

Initially it is a bit daunting, with lots of different accessories to go with it for different functions and looking like a strange computer, but once you figure out everything does it all makes sense.

Using the Cooking Pilot function, which was my favourite thing about it, everything is explained to you as well so you always know what you need to use.

There are actually 23 seperate cooking functions in the machine which include; chopping, mixing, steaming, slow-cooking, sauteing and fermenting. It also has built in scales to weigh your ingredients as you cook, can connect to WIFI and a special cooking app to control it remotely.

Turning on the machine I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the main monitor presents you with your options quite clearly, where you can either select the individual function that you want to use or enter the cooking pilot mode and select a recipe that has been installed on it.

Looking through the recipe options it was hard to choose exactly what I wanted because there were so many on offer with everything from roast dinners and soups to baby food and cocktails.

For my first go I selected a chicken and tomato pasta dish to see what it was like and selected the Cooking Pilot and basically after that all I had to do was peel some onions, nearly everything else was taken care of other than putting ingredients into the machine.

Each step of the way was clearly explained to you with you pressing continue after every step of the recipe to move on to the next phase. Sometimes this would be just adding another ingredient or actually cooking the food for a certain period of time on a preselected setting. As it was cooking the tomatoes and sauce for the dish, the cooker slowly stirred itself removing one of the most annoying things about making a sauce like that.

The whole process took about 30 minutes to prep and cook and when I was finished I genuinely couldn’t believe that the Monsieur Cuisine Smart was so easy to use.

From then on I have very much enjoyed looking through the recipes and trying whatever tickled my fancy that evening.

When it comes to making soups and stews the device is wonderful, other than peeling vegetables or chopping up meat, it does absolutely everything for you and it couldn’t make the process any easier.

It was even very handy for everyday cooking items like mashed potatoes as you throw everything into the basin which cooks and mashes it for you. It can boil eggs for you, steam vegetables, rice and pasta and partially clean itself.

There is even a function that will knead bread for you and prepare dough which works as good as any bread maker that I have ever used.

For some people, such as families with children, it is the ideal kitchen appliance, allowing you to cook up a dinner for four or more with relative ease as all you need to do is press a button to move on to the next cooking pilot stage so you don’t need to constantly hover over the stove to make sure everything is OK.

However, there are a few of things that people would need to know, The Monsieur Cuisine Smart does take up a lot of room on your counter, with this getting more noticable depending on what accessories are in use. It is also not really too suitable for cooking small meals for one person, although is great for batch cooking, with the cooking pilot recipes in particular focusing on four or more people.

It is also a wee bit pricey at £399.99, but I would say it is worth every penny.

Overall I can see the Monsieur Cuisine Smart becoming the next big cooking item in Northern Ireland and it is something that you really need to try out for yourself in order to see just how good it really is.
