The highly anticipated Corriedale special will see the residents of Weatherfield join forces with their Yorkshire neighbours in an action packed hour of drama

ITV chiefs have announced that the groundbreaking soap crossover episode bringing together the universes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale for the first time will be titled Corriedale.

Production has commenced on this special one-off tribute to the country’s two most-watched soap operas, which will witness Weatherfield’s residents unite with their Yorkshire counterparts in a thrilling hour of television.

Corriedale is set to broadcast on ITV, STV, ITVX and Youtube in early 2026 and will mark the beginning of the fresh soap power hour timetable, featuring each programme airing 30-minute episodes every weekday.

Emmerdale will broadcast in its fresh 8pm slot with Coronation Street following at 8.30pm.

Both programmes are commemorating this milestone in dramatic fashion, as the joint production crews have undertaken an ambitious stunt sequence that will have lasting ramifications for all those participating, reports the Daily Star.

Filming commenced on this eagerly awaited project at the end of September – with specifics about the stunt and participating characters remaining confidential for now.

ITV Executive Producer for Continuing Drama Iain Macleod commented: “It’s beyond exciting that filming is under way on Corriedale.

“There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular.

“And that’s before we’ve even got to all the brilliant transpennine interactions between characters from the different shows.

“As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.”

Soap bosses have already started dropping hints about the crossover by incorporating easter eggs into episodes.

In an episode that aired last week, sharp-eyed viewers noticed a wanted poster featuring a notorious Emmerdale murderer in the Weatherfield police station.

As Corrie’s Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) reported a crime, behind her was a poster displaying serial killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) with a call for information.

Coronation Street is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX and Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
